Palestinian resistance group ‘liquidates’ Jewish dual national with suspected Mossad ties

A Jewish dual national of Canada and Egypt was “liquidated” in his car after the group responsible for the attack claimed he maintained ties to the Israeli Mossad.

The killing would be just the latest act of resistance against Israel, as the war in Gaza threatens the border city of Rafah.

Vanguards of Liberation – Martyr Mohammed Salah Group, published this video showing the “liquidation” of alleged Israeli Mossad businessman Ziv Kipper in Alexandria, Egypt. It is captioned: “Wait for the next one. Shalom from the children of Gaza.” Video: Telegram.

The details: According to reports, the victim—identified as Ziv Kipper, the CEO of an Egyptian fruit and vegetable exporter—was shot dead by a Muslim assassin in Alexandria on Tuesday.

Personal Facebook and LinkedIn profiles portray Kipper as a staunch defender of both Israel and Ukraine, two nations currently embroiled in Western-funded proxy wars.

  • A video of the attack contains a caption which roughly translates to “Wait for the next one. Shalom from the children of Gaza.”
  • A previously unknown resistance group calling itself “the Vanguards of Liberation — the Group of Martyr Mohamed Salah” took responsibility for the attack and was said to have acted on “decisive intelligence.”
  • The group is named after Mohamed Salah Ibrahim, an Egyptian resistance martyr who killed three Israeli soldiers near the border with Israel in June 2023.
  • On Telegram, the “Vanguards of Liberation” asserted that Kipper was working for the Israeli intelligence agency Mossad prior to the hit. They further alleged that his companies, O.K Fruits & O.K Frozen, were used as a clandestine Mossad front to monitor Egypt and recruit informants.

Why it’s important: The targeted killing of suspected Israeli spies in neighboring countries comes one day after Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched a bloody ground operation against the Palestinian city of Rafah.

  • Israel forces seized the Rafah border crossing, a key humanitarian aid route connecting Gaza and neighboring Egypt.
  • Rafah is currently home to over 1.5 million displaced Palestinians, currently fleeing from strikes, famine, and lack of basic necessities in parts of northern Gaza.
  • Israel has been accused of orchestrating a genocide against ethnic Palestinians in Gaza, sparking worldwide condemnation for its actions, up to and including the US halting military aid in fear it will be used against civilians in Rafah.
  • While the Egyptian state has remained neutral in the conflict, public opinion remains soured against the regime in Tel Aviv, despite systemic attempts to “normalize relations” with Israel throughout the decades.
