Marianne Faber, the expected minister of asylum and immigration in the Netherlands, has retracted her support for the ‘Great Replacement Theory,’ which states that that mass migration is an intentional plot to replace White people with non-White people from elsewhere

Policy Shift: Faber, a representative of the right wing Party for Freedom (PVV), told a Dutch Parliament committee that she no longer believes in the Great Replacement Theory. She distanced herself from the term “omvolking,” or “repopulation,” linked to the theory, claiming it has terrible connotations to ‘Nazism’.

  • “I do not believe in a plan or conspiracy, and my party and I abhor everything that has to do with Nazis and their ideology,” Faber said.

Further Context: Faber’s remarks came during her confirmation hearing, where she faced scrutiny over her controversial statements and ethical practices.

  • Despite denouncing the theory, Faber still expressed concerns about the changing demographics in the Netherlands, calling it a legitimate worry.
  • Gidi Markuszower, an Israel-born PVV politician and the previous candidate for minister of immigration and asylum, was rejected earlier this month after failing a security check.

By the numbers: Despite being labeled a ‘conspiracy theory’ by critics, statistics compiled by the White Papers Policy Institute highlight significant demographic changes in the Netherlands due to intentional immigration policies.

  • The Dutch are just 68% of their own country’s population, and already represent a minority in the nation’s major cities
  • 40% of the population of Rotterdam is non-White, while both the Hague and Amsterdam have 35% non-White populations which are rapidly growing.
  • Today 20% of the population in the Netherlands is non-White and upwards of 32% are non-Dutch.
