While the UK is currently engaged in a repressive campaign to crack down on so-called “racist” protestors, the nation’s premier law enforcement agency itself is under fire by Black employees for “worsening” racism.
- According to reports, a number of Black and ethnic minority officers in London’s Metropolitan Police have described “experiencing racism” from their White colleagues, including racist comments and “microaggressions.”
- These same officers say Police brass hands down “pathetic punishments” to these racist perpetrators and that those who report them are being blocked due to discrimination.
- After calling out Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley for failing to eliminate this perceived discrimination, Black police have called the organization “disgusting” and “toxic” and have pulled support for an anti-White, George Floyd era “National Race Action Plan,” which alarmingly dictates that the force must be composed of at least 40% non-White employees.
Further context: Black Metropolitan Police have a history of making race-based demands of the traditionally White institution.
- In February, the National Black Police Association (NBPA) orchestrated a recruitment boycott of the Met Police after a racism scandal. The group advised those with ethnic minority backgrounds not to join the force after it came to light that a foreign employee was “racially abused” in an online chatroom.
Why it matters: While the Metropolitan Police deals with yet another racism scandal, neoliberal England has brutally suppressed and arrested dozens of White Britons for merely associating with or discussing recent bouts of racial unrest.
- Over the weekend, it was reported that the UK government “activated emergency measures” to empty the nation’s prisons and jails to make space for those convicted of protesting the race massacre of three White girls by a Black Rwandan in Southport.
- Those who have demonstrated in the wake of the killings have been labeled “White supremacists” and “racists” by the establishment press and have been blamed for a series of riots that reportedly turned some areas of the country into a “warzone.”
- Meanwhile, English judges who have sentenced White protestors to long stays in prison for these protests are increasingly revealed to have shown leniency to criminals and repeat sex offenders. The disparity in sentencing has demonstrated what many believe is a “two-tiered” justice system that favors criminal offenders and ruthlessly condemns political speech.
