Moorhead, Minnesota – On Tuesday, Police discovered the body of a missing teenage girl on the banks of the Red River. A homicide investigation led to the arrest of an adult Black man from neighboring Fargo, North Dakota.

While details surrounding the identity of the young victim remain scant from institutional media outlets, an independent Justice Report investigation has confirmed the victim was White.

According to reports, 18-year-old Isaac Arndt was identified as the lead suspect behind the murder. Arndt—who is Black—was arrested in Fargo and now awaits extradition to Minnesota, where he will be criminally charged for the murder of 14-year-old Jaelyn Nicole Walker—who is White.

Police assert they first discovered the teenager’s body somewhere along the Red River, the body of water that formally divides the states of Minnesota and North Dakota, on Tuesday night. Walker, from Moorhead, had been reported missing on Monday, and officers were dispatched to locate her.

An arrest warrant filed in Clay County Seventh District Court claimed that Walker and Arndt had recently ended a “romantic” relationship. That breakup led to the violent stabbing of Walker, which authorities called 13 “substantial sharp force injuries to her back, torso and neck.”

Jaelyn Nicole Walker was said to have been found dead alongside a river in Moorhead, Minnesota, a suburb of neighboring Fargo, North Dakota. Her alleged Black murder was said to be “known” to the teenage victim and is currently facing extradition for murder. Compilation: Facebook, Justice Report.

Originally, Arndt had surrendered himself to Moorhead police and attempted to blame the death of Walker on an unnamed White person who had allegedly attacked them at a local park. However, during interrogation, the Black man confessed to the crime, stating he did so after the teenager had struck him first during an argument.

“Defendant stated he started to ‘slash’ at the victim and that he stabbed the victim about 13 times. Defendant stated he fled the scene on his scooter and along the way he discarded his phone, his back pack, and the scooter,” read the warrant.

Surveillance camera footage captured the moments Arndt near the area where he had dragged Walker’s body. The criminal complaint also confirmed Arndt is being charged with second-degree murder with intent, which, if convicted, could spell up to 40 years in prison.

Walker was taken to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office, who have yet to determine an official cause of death. A preliminary autopsy report is underway.

Officers with the Moorhead Police Department asked the public for help via social media in locating a Samsung Galaxy cell phone “with an orange case” that may have been dropped by either of the involved parties.

They also ask anyone who may have inadvertently given a ride to Arndt the night of the incident to step forward for questioning.

Walker’s alleged killing at the hands of her Black adult “boyfriend” closely mirrors the May 2023 murder of White 15-year-old Gracie Sasso-Cleveland of DeKalb, Illinois. At the time, Sasso-Cleveland was alleged to have been groomed, killed, and stuffed inside a communal dumpster by 29-year-old Timothy Doll, a suspected Black sex offender.

At the time, advocates for Gracie and her ongoing fight for justice blamed her death not only on the Black perpetrator but a dysfunctional family life and a lack of parenting and oversight.

Meanwhile, those who knew young Jaelyn are reeling from the sudden loss. On Facebook, family and friends have already begun to demand #justiceforjaelyn, remembering her as a sweet girl and devoted friend.

“I can’t believe this is happened. I still think it’s a horrible nightmare that you’re gone,” read a tearful Facebook post from Genia Gullekson, a family member. “You are too good for this world. Will miss you very very much. Justice will be served. I just hope you are happy wherever you are. I love you very much.”

According to education data aggregator Great Schools, Jaelyn Nicole Walker was a freshman at Moorhead High School, where 72% of students identify as White. This figure would closely align with Moorhead’s own demographics, which currently sit at 79.7% White alone, per the latest US Census reporting.

In the United States, the White community and their most vulnerable members are often targeted by those identified as Black, with children making easy, perennial targets for victimhood.

Just last week, a Black man was arrested for shooting and killing 17-year-old Gage Anderson, an unarmed High School graduate from Kentucky, in what police described as a “road rage incident.” Despite this, the suspect, identified as Black 30-year-old Skyler Burley, fled the scene in a black Kia and later claimed self-defense.

In May, two elderly White grandparents were killed in what police described as a drug-fueled double homicide. For the crime, police arrested 29-year-old Maurice Christie—who is Black—for killing 97-year-old Miles Herrington and 94-year-old Ina Herrington in their own home.

Interracial murders like these have contributed to a growing list of Black-on-White killings, which some suggest have already reached the grim milestone of 300 confirmed cases midway through 2024.

It is currently unknown if race played a role in the death of Jaelyn Walker or if hate crime charges are being considered in the case. This story is evolving, and the Justice Report will provide updates as they become available.
