Berkeley Springs, West Virginia – After twenty-five years of sounding the alarm on American demographic change and the state of national identity, immigration watchdog VDare is officially set to close, its top editor claims.

The heart-breaking announcement was made Tuesday in a video posted by executive editor Peter Brimelow to the VDare Foundation’s X, formerly Twitter page.
Under Brimelow’s management, VDare quickly rose to prominence and shined as America’s top hub for demographic data, political analysis, immigration reform news, and ground-breaking editorials from leading right-wing thinkers.
Sitting before a camera, Brimelow announced he would resign from the iconic website after 25 years, with the VDare Foundation itself—an official non-profit organization registered in New York State—set to “wind down” within a few weeks.
“In a couple of days, the VDare website will be suspended. We’re not sure how long the archives will remain up, but our social media will still be accessible,” said Brimelow. “My role here as editor at VDare.com for the last 25 years has been destroyed, so I’m going to resign, and I’ll also be resigning from the VDare Foundation.”

“VDare.com was a highly successful operation…But it has been murdered by New York State Attorney General Leticia James. She’s not charged us with anything. It’s important to note, she simply battered us to death with an enormous, ongoing, and intrusive ‘investigation,’” he continued
VDare’s furious battle with AG James had been fought for some time. The Black lawyer, responsible for “unscrupulous attacks” against other conservative groups like the NRA and Donald Trump, had been attempting to extract emails and information that could be used to identify many of VDare’s pseudo-anonymous contributors.
Defiant, the Brimelows refused to provide James with that information. However, the decision came at the cost of nearly a million dollars in legal fees, which made continuing the institution no longer feasible.
Brimelow says it was aimed purely at crushing their First Amendment right to criticize immigration policy.
“The liberal law professor Jonathan Turley recently described New York State under Leticia James as the land that law forgot,” said Brimelow. “The VDare Foundation has been registered in New York State since 1999…we estimate that we’ve spent a million dollars in compliant costs as well as scores, maybe hundreds of hours of sheer work assembling documents and dealing with this subpoena—all work that we can’t spend on advancing the cause of patriotic immigration reform.”

“She’s obviously aiming at suppressing our speech, but we’ve been unable to get any relief from the New York Courts. No defense whatsoever,” he continued.
Brimelow also pointed to other issues that made continuing the website nearly impossible, citing American “cancel culture,” persistent and mysterious cyber attacks, and the disruption of payment processors, banks, and credit cards while likening their predicament to the controversial Chinese social credit system.
“We’ve done nothing wrong,” asserted Brimelow. “I’m deeply sad. …The end of VDARE is like the collapse of a small civilization. There’s a surprising number of people who have been working with me for a long time…who are dependent on VDare and will never find work inside the mainstream media.”
“I feel even worse about this new generation of immigration patriots that suddenly sprung up that I was hoping to integrate into the organization and hand it over to them,” he continued.

In addition to overbearing state lawfare, VDare and its figures have also faced a series of journalistic attacks in recent years, mainly from antifascists in the employ of the terror-linked Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).
Brimelow’s discussions regarding the erosion of the American nation-state notably caught the attention of former SPLC operative Michael Edison Hayden, a man accused of prowling around VDare’s Berkeley Springs castle with the intent to harass residents and young children for “scoops.”
Joining him would be local transsexual activist “Lisa” Maginnis, a male-to-female transwoman. The Brimelows had previously issued a restraining order to Maginnis due to instances of predatory behavior and documented harassment on the premises.

Despite top-down pushback from leftists and agents of the regime, Brimelow asserts that the important topic of immigration reform has become more popular than ever, pointing to a worsening southern border situation and feckless policies in Washington, D.C.
“The issue of immigration patriotism has never been hotter. Opinion polls are out of control in favor of immigration restriction, and even deportation is very popular among grassroots Americans,” said Brimelow. “I’d like to think that VDare.com has played a part in that development.”
After announcing his departure from VDare, Brimelow would go on to receive a swell of online support from fans, readers, and even some detractors who understood the severity of neoliberal repression.
“At VDARE.com, we have been constantly buoyed up by our loyal supporters. We are all too aware that there are many other deserving causes—including patriots who are actually in jail right now…we really don’t want to divert dollars that should go into saving the Historic American Nation, our primary mission, into a bottomless legal pit,” – Peter Brimelow, VDare.com
“Absolutely horrific. We are so saddened to hear this. If they can do this to VDARE, they can do this to any one of us,” said Henrik Palmgren of Red Ice TV to X/Twitter.
“We are profoundly saddened to learn of the suspension of VDare.com and their related activities,” said fellow immigration monitor, the White-Papers Policy Institute, in a statement on its social media pages. “VDare has, for more than two decades, served as a beacon of hope and truth in the fight against the replacement migration which is turning the United States into a country that generations of Americans no longer recognize.”
“The lawfare that VDare has been subjected to should concern any American who cherishes their First Amendment rights and values the ability to speak freely about the most profound issues facing the country today,” they continued.
“I’ve not always agreed with VDare. I’ve sometimes vehemently opposed VDare. I’ve also greatly appreciated some of the work they’ve done. Regardless of how I feel about VDare, our enemies using the judicial system to shut them down is unacceptable,” read a comment by X/Twitter user Fan of the Era.
During his video statement, Brimelow assured readers and fellow dissidents that he would not be departing completely, however, as the famous VDare Castle at Berkeley Springs would still be available as a venue for events.

“One bright spot is that the Berkeley Springs castle, which is where I’m filming this, is a separate Foundation. There will continue to be dissident conferences here and normal functions like weddings,” he asserted.
The website’s abrupt closure leaves behind what Brimelow further described as a “VDare-shaped hole” in the world of right-wing discourse. While the loss may seem incalculable to many, several websites and online projects continue in its stead.
For those seeking an alternative to VDare, the Justice Report recommends websites such as Jared Taylor’s American Renaissance, Counter-Currents by American White nationalist Greg Johnson, and the aforementioned White-Papers Policy Institute and its regularly updated Substack.
